MetaTrader 5
In light of the coming Metatrader 5 launch, we've decided to go over some of the finer points of the new platform. As of now, a demo of Metatrader 5 can be downloaded from Alpari or FXDD for free. The platform is expected to be able to handle live accounts within 6 months (according to an FXDD representative). It's important to note that any Metatrader 4 Expert Advisors and indicators will not work in the new Metatrader 5 trading environment. This is concerning to many traders for obvious reasons; however, we have reason to believe that Metatrader 4 functionality will be around for a long time and as long as someone would like to use Metatrader 4, there will be a broker to support its trading. Some of the bigger changes to the platform include:
- No Hedging of orders
- DOM technology
- More indicators
- Walk forward optimization capabilities
- For developers -- debugging environment
We've taken the liberty of outlining some of these functions in a video (below). As for the DOM technology, we haven't seen it enabled in the demo accounts but it is certainly something we're looking forward to. Please watch the video blog and take an opportunity to download the platform.
